Great Brushes Are Essential…But Don’t Have to Break the Bank

Okay…as you will see in many of my videos, there are a couple products that I do not recommend cheaping out on, one of them being makeup brushes.   A good makeup brush really does the work for you…it helps shape, contour and most importantly blend.  I personally use a lot of M.A.C. brushes because their quality is excellent, my favorite being the #224 blending brush!  However at $20 and up, you can rack up quite the bill before you can say paint pot.

So after lots of experimenting I think I’ve found a great alternative brand…Sonia Kashuk.  I know your probably thinking Sonia who????  But Sonia Kashuk’s line carries a full range of brushes and they all seem to be awesome.   I actually stumbled upon these at Target and I must say they are amazing, they are soft, hold their shape and are extremely comparable to MAC…for a whole lot less.  One of my current favorites from her line is the Blusher Brush 02, it really does a great job applying blush and bronzer.  I find it very comparable to the MAC #129 blush brush and best of all it only cost $11.99 instead of the #129 which costs $34.

The Sonis Kashuk line consists of brushes with white handles and blue.  The blue handles are little more expensive but the white seem to do the same and be a little cheaper.  As far as I know they can only be purchased at Target.  If you don’t have a Target near you, don’t worry these can all be purchased online!

hey amy!! i’m hoping you could recommend a good crease and/or blending brush. i’ve heard amazing things about the mac 217, but i don’t have the money or the reasoning to drop that much money on a brush just because i wouldn’t do it justice. do you know of any good mac 217 duplicates?

I have had very good luck with Quo brushes. I bought mine at Shopper’s Drug Mart…not sure if they are in the States or not, but you might do a google search on Quo.
